- 2 TBSP yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 stick butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 egg yolks
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 tsp vanillin (vanilla sugar)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix together the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Combine ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, melted butter, warm milk, salt, eggs, and egg yolks. Whisk until smooth.
- Add yeast mixture: Pour the activated yeast mixture into the bowl with the other ingredients. Stir to combine well.
- Add flour: Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each addition.
- Knead the dough: Transfer it to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise in a warm area for about 60 minutes.
- Roll out the dough: After it’s risen, punch the dough down and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut the donuts: Use a donut cutter to cut the donuts and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Second rise: Let the shaped donuts rise for an additional 30 minutes covered with a towel.
- Fry the donuts: Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry the donuts.
- Make the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, water, and vanillin until smooth.
- Glaze the donuts: Dip them into the glaze and allow excess to drip off.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
