Description

A warm and fluffy Middle Eastern flatbread infused with za’atar spice, perfect for any meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 23 tablespoons za’atar spice blend
  • Extra olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Create a well and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Stir until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough, divide into small balls, and roll each into 1/4 inch thick rounds.
  7. Transfer each rolled-out dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle generously with za’atar before baking.
  9. Bake for about 8-10 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  10. Drizzle with more olive oil before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes
