- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breast, chopped into pieces
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 cups canola oil for frying
Instructions
- Add the chopped chicken to a food processor. Blend it until it’s smooth.
- Incorporate the spices: onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, salt, and sugar. Also, add the water and cornstarch, mixing everything thoroughly.
- Shape it into 2″ x 2″ rectangles.
- Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and pop the tray in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
- Heat up the oil in a pot or deep fryer.
- Coat each nugget in flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then roll it in breadcrumbs.
- Fry them in batches for about 6-8 minutes or until they turn a beautiful golden brown.
- Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
- Serve with a variety of dipping sauces.
Notes
For extra flavor, experiment with different spices or herbs in your mixture. Don’t skip the freezing step for better shape retention while frying.
