A delightful pasta dish with succulent shrimp, rich cream, and zesty lemon, perfect for family gatherings or cozy date nights.

- 500 g/1 lb tagliatelle (or pasta of your choice)
- 3 tbsp butter
- 500 g/1 lb shrimp/prawns (deveined and shelled)
- 4 garlic cloves (crushed)
- 1 cup/250 ml cream
- 2–3 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Handful fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Start by cooking the pasta. Fill a large pot with salted boiling water, then add the tagliatelle. Cook until al dente, followed by the package instructions. Once done, drain the pasta and reserve about 1 cup of that cooking water.
- While the pasta cooks, heat 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Sauté until they turn golden brown and opaque, seasoning them with salt and pepper to taste. Once cooked, remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of butter along with the crushed garlic. Sauté for just a few seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant; you don’t want it to burn. Next, pour in the cream and lemon juice (start with 2 tablespoons and adjust to your taste later).
- Toss in the chopped parsley and season with salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer gently until it thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Add the shrimp back into the pan, mixing well. Then, gently fold in the cooked pasta, along with a bit of the reserved cooking water to help loosen the sauce if needed. Toss everything together until the pasta is beautifully coated in the luscious sauce.
- Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley and lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcooking the shrimp and reserve pasta water for sauce emulsion.
