Description
Delightful cinnamon baked doughnuts that are soft, spiced, and perfect for family gatherings or a cozy weekend breakfast.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until the dry ingredients are well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine them until just mixed. Make sure not to overmix; some lumps are perfectly fine!
- Fill the doughnut pan with the batter. You can use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off to make this easier.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the doughnuts turn golden brown.
- Allow them to cool for a few minutes before carefully transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the cinnamon sugar coating, mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then coat the doughnuts while they’re still warm for maximum flavor.
Notes
These doughnuts are delightful even before coating; feel free to experiment with different coatings.
