Description

A silky, rich chocolate mousse that’s simple to prepare and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream, separated
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream until it’s warm but not boiling.
  2. Add the chocolate chips to the warm cream and stir until melted and smooth.
  3. Whip the remaining 2/3 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt to the whipped cream, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  5. Fold the chocolate mixture into the whipped cream until just combined.
  6. Spoon the mousse into serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  7. Top with optional whipped cream and chocolate shavings before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider variations like mint chocolate or orange zest.
