Homemade Chicken Shawarma

Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Chicken Shawarma recipe, perfect for sharing with family and friends.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • Lettuce, tomatoes, and onions for serving
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Mix olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add the sliced chicken and coat it well.
  2. Marinate the chicken for at least 1 hour or ideally overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken until it’s golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. Combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, and salt in a small bowl for the garlic sauce and stir until smooth.
  5. Slice the cooked chicken and serve it in the pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a generous drizzle of garlic sauce.

Notes

Marinate the chicken overnight for the best flavor. Store any leftovers in an airtight container and consume within 3-4 days.
