Ingredients

  • 4 cups water (split into 1 cup and 3 cups)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup mint leaves (split into 1/2 cup and 1/2 cup)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of mint leaves in a saucepan to make mint syrup.
  2. Heat on medium, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes to infuse the mint flavor.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  5. Squeeze enough lemons to yield 1 cup of fresh lemon juice using a citrus squeezer.
  6. Pour 3 cups of cold water into a pitcher and add the fresh lemon juice.
  7. Strain the cooled mint syrup into the pitcher, discarding the mint leaves.
  8. Add fresh mint sprigs and lemon slices for garnish and stir well.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator and serve over ice.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh lemons and mint. Adjust sweetness to taste, and allow the lemonade to chill before serving.
