Description
Quick and easy no-bake holiday treat featuring crispy pretzels dipped in smooth white chocolate and topped with crushed peppermint candies. Perfect sweet-and-salty combination ready in just 15 minutes ideal for gifting, parties, or keeping in your holiday candy stash.
Ingredients
8 oz bag pretzel crisps, pretzel twists, or pretzel rods (30–40 pretzels)
16 oz white chocolate chips or bars, high quality
1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional)
6–8 candy canes or peppermint candies, crushed
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
Red and white sprinkles (optional)
Melted dark chocolate for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
1. Line 2-3 baking sheets with parchment paper or wax paper.
2. Crush candy canes in a food processor or sealed bag with rolling pin until you have a variety of sizes from powder to small chunks.
3. Place white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Add coconut oil if using.
4. Microwave at 50% power in 30-second bursts, stirring thoroughly between each interval, until 80% melted.
5. Stir constantly until completely smooth and melted. Add peppermint extract if using.
6. Hold one pretzel and dip completely into melted white chocolate (or dip halfway for two-tone effect).
7. Gently shake to remove excess chocolate, letting drips fall back into bowl.
8. Place on prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each pretzel.
9. Immediately sprinkle with crushed candy canes before chocolate sets (within 30 seconds).
10. Repeat with remaining pretzels, working quickly. Reheat chocolate in 10-second bursts if it thickens.
11. Optional: Drizzle with melted dark chocolate for extra decoration.
12. Let set at room temperature for 30-45 minutes (or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes) until chocolate is completely hardened.
13. Store in airtight container at room temperature, layering between parchment paper, for up to 3 weeks.
Notes
Use high-quality white chocolate—cheap brands don’t melt smoothly and taste waxy.
Keep all water away from chocolate to prevent seizing (grainy, unusable texture).
Work quickly once chocolate is melted—white chocolate sets faster than dark chocolate.
Room temperature setting is best to prevent chocolate bloom (white streaks).
Can substitute with almond bark (vanilla candy coating) for easier melting.
Make 3 weeks ahead and store airtight—perfect for advance holiday prep.
Package in cellophane bags or decorative tins for beautiful homemade gifts.
