Ingredients

Scale

6 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped

2 tbsp unsalted butter

2 large eggs, separated

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)

Fresh strawberries or raspberries for topping

Instructions

1. In a heatproof bowl, melt chocolate and butter together over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.

2. Whisk in the egg yolks until combined.

3. In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar and beat until glossy.

4. Fold the egg whites gently into the chocolate mixture.

5. In another bowl, whip heavy cream with vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

6. Fold half of the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture to lighten it, then fold in the rest.

7. Spoon the mousse into dessert glasses and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.

8. Before serving, top with whipped cream, cocoa powder, and fresh berries.

Notes

Add a splash of coffee liqueur or raspberry syrup for extra flavor.

For a lighter version, use dark chocolate with 70% cocoa.

Decorate with heart-shaped chocolate pieces for a festive Valentine’s touch.
