Description
Flaky puff pastry shaped into hearts and filled with sweet cream cheese and juicy strawberries these charming danishes are perfect for Valentine’s Day, brunch, or any time you want a bakery-style treat at home.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup fresh strawberries, diced
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg
1 tbsp milk
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into heart shapes.
3. Using a knife, lightly score a smaller heart inside each pastry, leaving a border.
4. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
5. In another bowl, toss strawberries with cornstarch and lemon juice.
6. Spread cream cheese mixture inside the scored area of each heart.
7. Top with strawberry mixture.
8. Whisk egg with milk and brush edges of pastry.
9. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.
10. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Frozen strawberries can be used if thawed and drained well.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Drizzle with glaze or melted chocolate for extra indulgence.
