Description
Tender chicken glazed in a sticky apple cider sauce with garlic, thyme, and a touch of sweetness the ultimate cozy autumn dinner with caramelized edges and deep fall flavor.
Ingredients
1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup apple cider (not vinegar)
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp dried thyme (or 1 tsp fresh)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 small apple, thinly sliced (optional for garnish)
Fresh thyme or parsley, for garnish
Instructions
1. Pat chicken dry and season with salt and pepper.
2. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Sear chicken on both sides until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove from pan and set aside.
4. Lower heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Pour in apple cider, vinegar, soy sauce, honey, Dijon mustard, and thyme. Stir and simmer 2–3 minutes.
6. Return chicken to skillet, coating with sauce. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered 10–15 minutes, until sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
7. Serve topped with fresh herbs and apple slices if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate chicken in apple cider and soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, or wild rice.
Make it spicy: add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of hot honey at the end!
