Description
This hearty casserole layers thin-sliced beef with scalloped potatoes and a savory creamy sauce. A satisfying, comforting dinner for any night of the week.
Ingredients
1 lb beef chuck steak, thinly sliced
4 medium russet potatoes, thinly sliced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp olive oil
1½ cups beef broth
1 cup milk
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Sear seasoned beef slices in olive oil until browned.
3. Sauté onions, add flour, then whisk in broth and milk. Simmer until thick.
4. Layer potatoes, beef, and sauce in a greased 9×13 dish. Repeat layers.
5. Top with cheese. Cover and bake for 45 minutes.
6. Remove foil and bake 20–25 minutes more until golden.
7. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use a mandoline for even potato slices.
Swap in ground beef or rotisserie chicken if preferred.
Add chili flakes or fresh herbs to customize flavor.
