Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil; knead until smooth and elastic.
- Let dough rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and transfer to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Spread tomato sauce evenly over the dough.
- Top with mozzarella slices and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, try baking on a preheated pizza stone.
