Description

Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a large bowl.
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, covered with a damp cloth.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Spread the tomato sauce evenly across the dough.
- Arrange the mozzarella slices on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle with black pepper and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and topped with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone in the oven before baking.
