Description
Maple Beaver Tails are golden fried pastries topped with a maple glaze, a true Canadian classic perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
2 tbsp sugar
¾ cup warm milk
2 tbsp butter, melted
1 egg
Pinch of salt
Vegetable oil for frying
½ cup pure maple syrup
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Mix yeast, warm milk, and sugar, let foam 5 minutes.
2. Add butter, egg, flour, and salt, knead into a soft dough.
3. Let rise 1 hour, then divide into 8 portions.
4. Stretch into oval shapes like tails.
5. Fry in hot oil at 350°F until golden.
6. Drain on paper towels.
7. Whisk maple syrup, powdered sugar, and vanilla into a glaze.
8. Brush glaze over fried beaver tails and serve.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, but you can reheat in the oven at 325°F for 5 minutes.
