- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 ounces marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic; drain.
- Add marinara sauce to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
- Layer with noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and meat sauce; repeat layers.
- Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 45 minutes, until bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for 15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add spinach or mushrooms to the meat sauce.
