Description
Classic buttery Jam Thumbprint Cookies with soft centers, crisp edges, and a sweet jam filling. Perfect for holidays, gifting, or anytime baking!
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup jam (raspberry, strawberry, apricot, or your favorite)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. Beat butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
3. Mix in egg yolk and vanilla.
4. Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheets.
6. Use your thumb or the back of a teaspoon to make an indentation in each cookie.
7. Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon jam.
8. Bake 12–14 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill dough 20 minutes for extra neat cookies.
Use seedless jam for a smoother finish.
Cookies stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
