1/2 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup milk or heavy cream
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
For the pecan topping:
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup brown sugar

3. In a large bowl, whisk together mashed sweet potatoes, maple syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until fully combined and creamy.
4. Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
5. In a separate bowl, combine pecans, brown sugar, flour, and melted butter until crumbly.
6. Sprinkle topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.
7. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is hot.
8. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Add a splash of bourbon or orange juice for extra depth of flavor.
Substitute marshmallows for the pecan topping if desired.
