Tender carrots and crisp green beans coated in a glossy honey glaze a simple, sweet, and savory side dish that pairs beautifully with any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

3 cups fresh green beans, trimmed

2 cups sliced carrots

2 tbsp butter

1½ tbsp honey

1 tbsp olive oil

½ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

1 tsp fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

2. Add carrots and cook for 3 minutes, then add green beans and cook together for another 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.

3. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to preserve color. Drain again.

4. In a large skillet, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat.

5. Add honey, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, stirring to combine.

6. Toss in the carrots and green beans, coating them evenly in the glaze.

7. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shiny and warmed through.

8. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes for a sweet-spicy kick.

For a vegan version, substitute butter with plant-based margarine.

Pairs wonderfully with roasted chicken, salmon, or holiday mains.
