  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls
  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze (or reduced balsamic vinegar)

Instructions

  1. Combine olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper in a zip-top bag or shallow dish. Add the flank steak, coating it thoroughly. Seal and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 8 hours.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side until it reaches your desired doneness.
  3. Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes. Slice it thinly against the grain.
  4. Mix cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and chopped basil in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and a pinch of salt, and stir gently.
  5. Arrange the sliced steak and Caprese salad on a serving platter. Drizzle with balsamic glaze just before serving.

Notes

For best results, marinate the steak for a full 8 hours and always slice against the grain for tenderness.
