Description
These Glazed Buttermilk Beignets are pillowy soft, golden brown, and drizzled with a simple vanilla glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or sweet snacks!
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp instant dry yeast
¼ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup buttermilk (room temp)
1 large egg
3 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
¼ tsp salt
Oil for frying (canola or sunflower)
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
3–4 tbsp milk or water
½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm buttermilk.
2. Add egg, softened butter, and flour. Mix until smooth dough forms.
3. Let dough rise covered for 30–45 minutes in a warm place.
4. Roll dough to ½-inch thickness and cut into 2-inch squares.
5. Heat oil to 350°F and fry beignets 2–3 mins per side.
6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
7. Mix glaze ingredients in a bowl and drizzle over cooled beignets.
8. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon to the dough.
Store beignets in an airtight container at room temp for 1–2 days.
Reheat in a toaster oven or air fryer for a crispy bite.
