Description
A sophisticated twist on the classic Italian dessert layers of mascarpone cream, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, and a luscious cherry-amaretto compote for an indulgent finale.
Ingredients
1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp Amaretto liqueur
1 cup brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
24 ladyfingers
1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
1 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp cocoa powder, for dusting
Chocolate shavings and cherries for garnish
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, and Amaretto. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until syrupy. Cool completely.
2. In a bowl, whisk mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
3. In another bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks and gently fold into mascarpone mixture.
4. Dip ladyfingers briefly in espresso and layer half in a serving dish.
5. Spread half the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers.
6. Spoon half the cherry mixture on top.
7. Repeat layers with remaining ladyfingers, cream, and cherries.
8. Dust with cocoa powder.
9. Chill for at least 4 hours or overnight for best flavor.
10. Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh cherries before serving.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, replace Amaretto with almond extract.
Make a day ahead — flavors intensify beautifully overnight.
Serve in individual glasses for an elegant presentation.
