- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1.5 cups sharp cheddar, shredded
- 1.5 cups mozzarella, shredded
- Tortilla chips
- Pickled jalapeño, for garnish
- Cilantro, for garnish
- 1.5 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1/2 tbsp paprika
- 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
- Shred the cheese and set it aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, drizzle a bit of oil and toss in the diced onions. Sauté for about 30 seconds.
- Add the minced garlic and continue cooking for another minute.
- Add the ground beef into the pan and break up the clumps as it cooks.
- Once the beef is halfway cooked, sprinkle in all the seasonings except for the light soy sauce and the sugar.
- Stir until the spices blend in, then drizzle the soy sauce and add the sugar, mixing well.
- If desired, push the beef to one side and tilt the pan to collect grease.
- Add the shredded cheese on top of the beef, cover, and let sit until melted.
- Spread a layer of tortilla chips on a large plate and top with the cheesy ground beef.
- Garnish with pickled jalapeños and fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
Serve with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa for a complete flavor experience.
