Deviled Eggs: A Timeless Delight

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Deviled eggs are creamy, flavorful bites that are perfect for any gathering or snack, and are easy to make with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp fine salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Sweet paprika (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp pickle relish (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chives (finely snipped, optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: First, place the eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water, about an inch above the eggs. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the eggs for 9-12 minutes, adjusting the time based on how firm you like your yolks.
  2. Cool in ice bath: When the eggs are done cooking, transfer them straight into an ice bath for about 5 minutes. This step helps stop the cooking process and makes peeling much easier.
  3. Peel the eggs: Under running water, crack and peel the eggs. The water helps loosen the shells and makes the peeling process smoother.
  4. Halve the eggs: Slice each egg in half lengthwise and gently remove the yolks into a mixing bowl.
  5. Prepare the filling: Use a fork to mix the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt, pepper, and relish until you achieve a smooth consistency. Adjust the flavors to your liking!
  6. Fill the egg whites: Grab a spoon or a piping bag and fill each egg white half with the delicious yolk mixture.
  7. Garnish: Sprinkle paprika over the top for color and flavor. If you choose to use chives, sprinkle them on as well. Chill the stuffed eggs for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

Serve with crunchy veggies for a refreshing contrast. They also complement savory dishes like fried chicken and sandwiches.
