Description
A silky, old-fashioned custard pie infused with warm cinnamon and fragrant vanilla baked in a buttery flaky crust until golden and gently set. Simple, nostalgic, and utterly comforting.
Ingredients
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
4 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp edges. Chill while preparing the filling.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until smooth and light.
3. Gradually whisk in milk, cream, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until fully combined.
4. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared crust.
5. Carefully transfer the pie to the oven and bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is just set but still slightly wobbly.
6. If crust edges brown too quickly, cover with foil halfway through baking.
7. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing.
9. Serve chilled or at room temperature, optionally dusted with extra cinnamon or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
For an extra touch, sprinkle cinnamon sugar on top before baking.
Ensure not to overbake — the custard should be creamy, not dry.
Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
