Description
A classic and comforting Christmas Eve dessert, this Cinnamon-Vanilla Custard Pie features a creamy, spiced filling in a buttery crust simple, elegant, and irresistibly festive.
Ingredients
1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
4 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Pinch of salt
Optional: whipped cream and cinnamon sugar for topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, milk, cream, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
4. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
5. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is just set and slightly wobbly.
6. Cool completely on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
7. Serve chilled or at room temperature with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
Notes
To prevent the crust edges from overbrowning, cover with foil halfway through baking.
For a richer custard, substitute half the milk with evaporated milk.
This pie tastes even better the next day — perfect for preparing on Christmas Eve morning!
