1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped and drained
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1/4 cup cherry juice (from jar, optional for extra flavor)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
3. In another bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
5. Add flour mixture gradually, mixing until just combined.
6. Fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
7. If the dough seems dry, add 1–2 tsp of reserved cherry juice for softness.

9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
10. Cool on pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
Pat cherries dry with a paper towel before adding to avoid excess moisture.
Use dark chocolate chips for a richer flavor.
