- 1 medium head of cabbage
- 1 cup cooked chicken or tofu
- 1 cup finely chopped vegetables (e.g., carrots, bell peppers)
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Dough wrappers (store-bought or homemade)
- Oil for frying or cooking (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, mix the cooked chicken or tofu with the chopped vegetables, green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Combine everything well.
- Blanch the cabbage leaves: Carefully peel the leaves off the cabbage head. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, then blanch the leaves for 2-3 minutes until softened. Drain the leaves and set them aside to cool.
- Create the dumplings: Take a soft cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the mixture into the center. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll from the bottom to create a dumpling. Make sure to seal it well!
- Cook the dumplings: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings seam side down in the pan. Cook them until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
- Optional steaming: For a healthier option, instead of frying, you can steam the dumplings for about 10-12 minutes until they’re cooked through.
- Serve with sauce: Enjoy these tasty dumplings with your favorite dipping sauce—soy sauce, sweet chili, or a homemade garlic sauce work wonders!
Notes
Choose firm cabbage leaves and don’t overstuff to prevent dumplings from bursting. You can use different proteins or vegetables to customize your dumplings.
